Hip
We perform around 500 hip replacements each year by a team of six consultants offering hip replacement surgery and other hip procedures and interventions, making us one of the larger orthopaedic providers in the NHS. Our hip replacement surgery is carried out in modern laminar flow theatres adjacent to the elective ward, B1. Collectively, we have over 100 years consultant experience. We also offer hip replacement surgery using revolutionary techniques improving clinical outcomes and reducing length of stay post-operatively in hospital. As part of our enhanced recovery program, selective patients will be eligible to be introduced to our 24 hour discharge programme, with some patients going home the same day of surgery and not requiring an overnight stay in hospital. Finally, the Midlands Orthopaedic Centre is one of the few NHS providers offering computer navigation where appropriate, to assist the surgeon performing hip and knee joint replacements. Whilst this is not essential in all patients, it can help in certain cases.
Data about our outcomes for these types of surgery are collected on the National Joint Registry where we consistently perform very well.
